Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2026
1. About these terms
These terms govern your use of ClassKit, a lesson planning platform operated by Jamie Callawick (sole trader), New Zealand. By creating an account or using ClassKit you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
These terms are governed by New Zealand law. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
2. Who can use ClassKit
ClassKit is designed for New Zealand secondary school teachers and education professionals. You must be 18 years or older to create an account. During the closed beta, access is by invitation only — creating an account requires an invite link sent by ClassKit.
You may not share your invite link or account credentials with others.
3. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. Please notify us at [email protected] immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
4. Subscriptions and payments
ClassKit offers a free tier and a paid individual subscription. Pricing is displayed in New Zealand dollars (NZD) and includes GST where applicable.
- Free tier: limited to 5 lesson generations per month.
- Paid subscription: billed monthly via Stripe. You may cancel at any time from your settings page.
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — no partial refunds are issued for unused time.
- We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice to registered users.
Payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details.
5. AI-generated content
ClassKit uses AI (Anthropic's Claude) to generate lesson outlines and activity materials. AI-generated content is provided as a starting point and may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. You are responsible for reviewing all generated content before use in a classroom setting.
ClassKit makes reasonable efforts to align outputs with the New Zealand Curriculum and NCEA standards, but does not guarantee accuracy against official NZQA documentation. Always verify achievement standard references against nzqa.govt.nz.
6. Your content
You retain ownership of the lesson content you input into ClassKit (subjects, topics, learning objectives). By using ClassKit you grant us a limited licence to process that content solely to provide the service — for example, sending it to the Claude API to generate materials.
We do not use your lesson content to train AI models, and we do not share it with third parties except as necessary to operate the service (see our Privacy Policy).
7. Student data
ClassKit is a teacher-only tool. You must not enter any student names, student work, or other personally identifiable information about students into ClassKit. This is a core product principle and a condition of your use of the service.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use ClassKit for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service or its infrastructure.
- Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract content from ClassKit at scale.
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute generated content or the service itself.
- Enter content that is harmful, offensive, or in breach of third-party rights.
9. Availability and changes
ClassKit is provided on an “as is” basis during the beta period. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time, and will provide reasonable notice for material changes.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by New Zealand law, ClassKit and Jamie Callawick are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the service, including reliance on AI-generated content. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury, or fraud caused by our negligence.
Your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and Fair Trading Act 1986 are not affected by these terms where they apply.
11. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from your settings page. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, with notice where reasonably practicable. On termination, your lesson library will be deleted within 30 days.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of ClassKit after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
